About

Cheryse Terry is a mother and native Charlottean. She is a multifaceted creative with over a decade of experience collecting and dealing vintage items. Today, Cheryse works as a self taught archivist and the owner and founder of ARCHIVE CLT. Located on Beatties Ford Road, ARCHIVE CLT is a coffee shop and community hub dedicated to the preservation of Black history and culture. Cheryse believes that we must be the change we want to see. With that belief she was able to raise $40k in 40 days through grassroots fundraising to see the vision behind ARCHIVE CLT come to life. Within her first year of business she has been highlighted by The TODAY Show for her work at ARCHIVE CLT, enjoyed visits from United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge and North Carolina State Representative Alma Adams, and hosted a conversation between Charlotte’s first Black woman to be elected mayor, Vi Lyles and the first Black chair of the Council on Environmental Quality, Brenda Mallory.  Her time from the founding of ARCHIVE CLT has been marked  unexpected accomplishments and community grounding. Cheryse enjoys listening to Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue,” spending time with her children and building out The Archive Historic Preservation Society, a 501(c)(3) created to ensure the preservation of physical memorabilia through digital archiving for local Black families.

It all starts and ends with my people.
